Cryogenic treatment is conducted under 0°C. It will transform the retained austenite obtained after the quenching process into martensite. The cooling agent of this process is liquid nitrogen (-196°C), and the suitable operating temperature can range from -70°C ~ -150°C. The main purpose of this treatment is to stabilize the microstructures, increase the hardness and dimensional stability of the workpiece.
